It was an overcast day in Valley Forge and the Pileated Woodpecker was in his usual grove of trees. He knew I was there, but still posed for a great flight shot. Love when that happens!!

Way up high on a tree on the trail near Pawlings Farm there was a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers making a nest. I just got one of them, but I marked the tree where they were and maybe, just maybe they will nest there and have a few little pumpkins. Wouldn’t that be fun!

There were two of these beauties playing in the woods on Monday. I tried to get them both in the same frame, but they would not cooperate.

Well, as you may know, because of the Coronavirus Valley Forge National Park and Eastern College Pond have both been closed up tight. The parking lots are roped off. I think you could even get a ticket if you are caught in Valley Forge, so…. today I just went into the woods behind Tom’s…

This little guy or gal was so cooperative this morning. I got within just a few feet and he let me stay and photograph. But when I began to talk to him, he got a little nervous and flew away. Oh well…
