The Fields in Valley Forge Are Being Mowed
And that means you can see a bit more of the wildlife because they have no place to hide. Here’s a little fox and a harrier and another hawk that posed for my camera this morning.

The Northern Harrier
This beautiful male Northern Harrier had just sat down to digest his breakfast when I came upon him in the field across from Washington Chapel in Valley Forge yesterday. He sat for a few hundred photographs before taking off for another snack. Click to really see that beautiful face and glint in his eye.

Harrier Overhead
She was hunting something on the ground in the brush. I was able to sneak up on her and poke my lens through the brush. She was quite aware I was there, but it didn’t phase her. After a bit she flew up and away. Such a beautiful hawk with a damaged feather pattern.
