This beautiful male Northern Harrier had just sat down to digest his breakfast when I came upon him in the field across from Washington Chapel in Valley Forge yesterday. This big bad boy – about five feet long bobbed his head up and down to show us who was boss of the rain forest. Quite imposing.

There were dozens and dozens of these exquisite hummingbirds all feeding from the flowering trees and plants in a beautiful garden just below the cloud forest in Savegre, Costa Rica. Oh what a sight to see and photograph.
