Oh it is that time of year in Valley Forge. The turtles are lurking in the woods. The Indigo and the Goldfinch are everywhere, the hummingbirds and the honeybees are buzzing the wildflowers. It is so marvelous to just walk in the fields and see all these beautiful creatures. I am so, so, so…

There were two of these sweeties playing in the woods. I so wanted to get them in the same frame, but alas, only one posed at a time. Here’s my favorite. Click to see the eye contact.

I heard this little guy’s “chip” or “spit” sound high in a tree in Valley Forge. The sound got louder as I got closer. I started chipping back and he stopped chipping and was very quiet. I waited but I could no longer spot him, so I started to walk away when he flew…

I was taking a picture of an Indigo Bunting when all of a sudden a little yellow grasshopper jumped onto my 600 mm lens. I had my macro lens over my shoulder and was able to grab a shot of him too. Oh technology!

Mr. Indigo Bunting was not happy with me. He had a nest in a bush just by the path into the woods. I just stayed put and he just flew around me, yelling at me to take my big lens and please go home. So I did.
