
Searching through the vegetable garden this morning, I found this wonderful cucumber beetle peaking through the leaves of a zucchini plant. Just click on him to get a closer look at his snout and compound eyes.

This Bush Katydid was high atop a lilly stalk just at our front door. I took her picture at dusk with the big red door in the background behind her. The combination of low light and dark red door and a very narrow depth of field created the blueish red background.
Ken surprised us last night with tickets to see Condoleezza Rice and Aretha Franklin at the Mann Music Center. Oh my. It could not have been a more beautiful night. The weather was perfect – no humidity – cool breeze – clear skies. We had a picnic on the lawn at the Mann Center…

The five of us Rileys (Nancy, Suzy, Julie, Kitty and Peter) decided it was time for a reunion since we have not been together for a good long time. We all flew to Orlando to spend the weekend with our sister Nancy and her husband Ed and had a wonderful time in “The Villages”.…

Birthday party last night for Yumiko and her four good friends Aubrey, Julia, Julia and Eunice. Good time had by all, although my Internet meatball recipe could have been improved upon. (Lots of left overs.)

Got back last night after a wonderful week on Whidbey Island neighbor to the San Juan Islands in Washington State. The Hollins girls and families had a marvelous reunion and even saw a few whales surfing the waters. More to follow after mowing the lawn.
